When it comes to managing behaviors, it is important to remember that no two students are alike. Students come from a wide array of backgrounds that mold them into the person they are. By getting to know the student first, I am able to intentionally design systems that help to motivate students. This does not always look the same and can even change as the year progresses. Here are some examples of Check In's that I have used in the past. They have helped me to create time in my schedule to have one on one time with a students, helping them to regulate and reflect on their actions. Not to mention token charts, flexible seating, building trust with other adults, etc. Whatever the student needs to be successful!
